Cutter privacy policy

Cutter is a browser extension that fast-forwards the silent parts of videos. This policy explains what data we process and how we protect it. Our principle: collect only what we need to
run the product, and never upload your video or audio to our servers.

WHAT THE EXTENSION DOES LOCALLY
The basic silence skip (free tier) runs entirely inside the browser tab: the extension measures audio loudness through the Web Audio API and adjusts playback rate. No audio or video data
leaves the device.
Extension settings (silence threshold, speed, toggles) are stored locally in browser.storage.local.

WHAT WE RECEIVE WHEN YOU SIGN IN
If you create an account on cutter.nektonsoft.ru via Yandex or VK, the provider gives us your email, display name and provider-side account ID. We never receive or store passwords.
On the server we store: email, name, account creation date, plan (free or pro), subscription expiry and payment history.
After sign-in on the site, the extension receives a short HMAC token with a 12-hour TTL and stores it in browser.storage.local so it can make authorised API calls on your behalf.

SMART TRIM ON YOUTUBE (PRO, OPT-IN)
When you request smart trim for a YouTube video, the extension sends our server only the public YouTube video ID and your Bearer token. The server then fetches that video from YouTube
directly — the same way any public player would — and analyses it. We do not upload or request video or audio from your device.
The resulting "speed map" is stored in our database and shared across users, so the heavy processing runs once for everyone.

COOKIES AND STORAGE
Site: an HttpOnly session cookie (JWT) for sign-in; a NEXT_LOCALE cookie for the UI language.
Extension: browser.storage.local stores settings and the cached auth snapshot. These never leave the browser.

THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
OAuth sign-in via Yandex and VK; YouTube (for public video fetch during smart trim); a payment processor (YooKassa) in the future — card details are entered on their side and never reach
us.

RETENTION AND DELETION
Account data is kept while your account exists. Contact us to delete it. The "speed map" cache for processed public videos may be retained indefinitely — no personal data, only public
video IDs and the maps themselves.

CHILDREN
Cutter is not directed at users under 13.
