Extension: Reels Scrubber: Video Controller for Instagram

Reels Scrubber: Video Controller for Instagram is designed to provide native HTML5 playback controls (seek bar, volume, and playback speed) on supported Instagram video pages, plus optional Pro convenience features.

This extension does not sell or share personal data. The only personal information it ever transmits is an email address you type in yourself, once, if you choose to restore a Pro purchase — and it is not stored.


The extension does not collect names, phone numbers, payment card data, health data, location data, web history, Instagram account information, or message content.

The extension stores a small set of preference values on your device using Chrome storage APIs:

• whether the extension is enabled or disabled
• which Pro features are toggled on or off
• your anonymous-diagnostics opt-out choice
• a randomly generated installation ID (see below)
• the cached status of your Pro subscription, if you have one

These values remain on your device and are used only to make the extension function correctly.


To detect breakages quickly when Instagram changes its page structure, the extension may send
anonymous diagnostic events to our server. What is sent depends on your browser build:

• All builds: patch failure reports (whether enabling video controls failed, and why),
  throttled to at most one report per 30 minutes per installation.
• Chrome build: failure reports only.
• Edge and other new-browser builds: additionally, patch success and session-health
  events during the browser's rollout period.
• All builds: rare Pro announcement interaction events (e.g. whether a promotional card
  was shown or dismissed), capped at a few per user.

These events contain no personal data, account information, page content, or browsing
history, and cannot be linked to you.

You can turn diagnostics off at any time with the "Send anonymous diagnostics" toggle in the
extension popup.


The extension periodically fetches a small configuration file from our server (for example, a "kill switch" that lets us disable a broken feature quickly after an Instagram change). This is a one-way download of settings — no data about you is included in the request beyond what any web request contains.


If you purchase Reels Scrubber Pro, payment is processed entirely by Stripe, Inc. as the merchant of record on Stripe's own checkout pages. We never receive or store your card number, billing address, or other payment details. Stripe's handling of your data is governed by the Stripe Privacy Policy.

To activate and verify your subscription, the extension generates a random installation ID (a UUID that contains no personal information and is not linked to your Instagram account). This ID is sent to our licensing server periodically to check whether a subscription is active.

If you use the "Already purchased? Restore" feature, the email address you enter is transmitted to our licensing server, used once to look up your subscription with Stripe, and is not stored by us. It is not used for marketing and is not shared with anyone other than Stripe for the purpose of that lookup.

You can cancel your subscription at any time via the "Manage Subscription" link in the extension popup.



Used to store extension preferences and license state locally on your device (for example, enabled/disabled state and Pro feature toggles).


Used to apply the enabled/disabled state to open Instagram tabs so behavior updates immediately.


Used to periodically refresh the remote configuration described above and to re-check Pro subscription status, because Chrome suspends the extension's background worker between events.


Used only on Instagram pages to enable native video controls for supported video/reel views.


The extension does not execute remote code. All executable code ships inside the extension package reviewed by the Chrome Web Store.

• Stripe processes Pro payments on its own pages, as described above.
• The extension may open external links only when you explicitly click popup actions (for example, support/contact links). These sites operate under their own privacy policies.

This extension is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.


If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be published with a new effective date.
