- Rated 1 out of 5by Lilith, 7 days agoGive me serious problems in firefox/zen-browser
In the start it worked without no problems but after restarting it for the first time the extensions begans to having problems, i couldn't acess any website in the browser however the Wi-Fi was perfectly outside it, i couldn't even properly remove it i needed to enter troubleshooting mode and after go directly to the folder and remove it, by the way this only happens with ProtonVPN since windscribe works perfectly fine for me.Developer response

I recently renewed my subscription (not for the first time), and now I'm installing the extension on a new device, but it simply won't load (it just keeps loading forever!!!). Fix this! I've been experiencing issues for months now- I have to reconnect frequently, otherwise pages won't load. There are other issues, so I won't list them all here.

posted 19 days agoThat doesn't sound right. Are both your browser and the Proton VPN extension up-to-date? Do you have any other extensions installed for privacy/security purposes? Please reach out to us at https://protonvpn.com/support/contact with more details so we can help you further. - Rated 1 out of 5by Tristan, 19 days agoIt sucks because I love Proton as a service and have been a paying customer for quite awhile, but this extension has always been completely broken on Firefox and it's derivatives. Everytime I first install it, the VPN works great. However, after I restart Firefox, it can never connect again and no website will load at all whenever it says "Connected". I need to reinstall the extension in order for it to work. It doesn't matter what fork I'm on, it doesn't matter what PC I'm on, and this has been happening for years. Works great on Vivaldi which you'd expect, given the extension is pre-loaded in the browser...but cmon I'm a Firefox guy and I'd like for this to work so I can use the VPN I'm paying for on my browser of choice. Until then, I'm not paying extra for it.

I’m frustrated, I’m a premium subscriber on an annual plan, and I still can’t use the service in the browser that’s officially supported via the extension. We need an ETA! It’s been almost two months with no updates.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Oğuz Düz, a month agoI find Proton's overall service quality, server speeds, and desktop application very successful; it's a genuinely good service. However, the browser extension (Zen, Vivaldi, etc.) unfortunately does not work properly on this computer.
The moment I click connect, the extension turns "green" (connected) within milliseconds, but no pages load and it throws a "Connection Timed Out" error. I have checked all network settings and DNS configurations on my system. While other competing VPN extensions work flawlessly on the exact same system, only Proton's extension gets stuck in this fake connection loop and fails to route traffic properly at the OS layer. This extension urgently needs an update to match the quality of the overall service. Until the extension is fixed, my rating is 1 star.Developer response

Meanwhile, try reinstalling the extension from scratch to see if there's any improvement. - Rated 1 out of 5by Overlord69, 2 months agoI can't tell what's currently going on but starting since today I can't use the addon anymore. Every time I try to connect to a server the whole browser freezes and if I wait long enough, it crashes. I have to open Firefox in troubleshooting mode and remove the addon, because as soon as I enable it it tries to connect to a server and the browser freezes.

posted 2 months agoThe default Connect option will connect you to the fastest available server for you. This leads to better load balancing and higher speed, which is a priority for free users. That said, you still have the option to switch to another randomly allocated server by disconnecting and reconnecting, or you can upgrade to connect to a specific server in a country of your choice.
As for the issue you're experiencing, could you share more details? Where exactly have you observed the leak? Are you using any other VPN, proxy, or custom DNS services? Fails to connect and remains stuck at which time, all functionality of the browser has stopped. Cannot open settings, cannot click the extension icon, nothing. Assumed it may have been the core secure function causing the hang up, so I did a refresh on FireFox. Reinstalled the extension and same issue happened. Had to do another refresh of FireFox.
